Privacy Policy

The short version

No accounts, no sign-ups, no tracking cookies, no ads, no third-party trackers. Your character and your progress stay in your own browser — they are never sent to us. The one thing we do is count visits, so we know whether anyone is playing.

What we collect

Counts, not people. Our host tallies how many times pages are opened and which ones, using the ordinary records every web server keeps when a browser asks for a page. There is no code in the game doing this — no cookies, no tracking scripts, no fingerprinting, no accounts, no ID of any kind, and nothing that could tie a visit to a particular child.

So we can see something like “the arcade was opened 400 times this week”. We cannot see who you are, what you built, or what you played.

Like every website, the server is sent your device's IP address — that is simply how a page gets delivered back to you. Our host uses it to estimate how many separate visitors there were. We are shown totals only; we don't get a list of addresses, and we don't use it to identify anyone.

What's saved on your device

So the arcade can remember where you left off, a few things are saved locally in your browser's built-in storage (localStorage): your coins and tickets, anything you've unlocked, settings like calm mode, and any avatar name you choose to type in. This stays on your device. It is never transmitted anywhere, and we can't see it. Clearing your browser's site data for Carnicade erases all of it.

Cookies

Carnicade sets no tracking cookies, and the visit counting described above uses none either — it happens on the server, so there is nothing stored in your browser to follow you around. The local storage described above is used only to run the arcade, to keep your game going.

Children

Carnicade is built to be family-friendly. We collect no personal information from anyone, so there is none to collect from children: a count of page visits is not a person, and nothing we see could be used to work out what an individual child did here. There is also no chat, no usernames shown to other players, and no way for anyone to contact your child through this site. If you're a parent or guardian and have a question, please reach out using the contact below.

Third parties

The arcade itself loads entirely from our own site and makes no calls to outside services — no ad networks, no analytics scripts, nothing watching from another company. Our site is hosted by Netlify, who run the servers it is delivered from and do the visit counting described above. The only outside link on the site goes to our studio page, roeaque.com.

Changes to this policy

If this ever changes — for example, if we add a feature that genuinely needs data — we'll update this page and the date at the top before that feature goes live.
